  • COMMUNITY STORE

"Zero Hero Swap Plastic - Refill Station,"  is more than just a place to shop. It symbolizes hope, owned and operated by Roberto and Alisa Cruz, a dynamic father-daughter duo.

Roberto, hailing from the colorful land of Mexico City, brings a rich heritage of resourcefulness and appreciation for the Earth.

Alisa is a proud first-generation Chicana, possessing an unwavering passion for sustainability and a deep-rooted desire to make a positive impact.

In the summer of 2023, after a Capital Hill Block Art PopUp, they sat across from Pride Place as it was finalizing the construction. Alisa vividly saw the store and aimed to educate and transform their community.

Zero Hero,  a vibrant hub, a sanctuary that welcomes people from all walks of life, regardless of their backgrounds or experiences. They are challenging the status quo and pushing towards restorative mindsets, encouraging others to recognize their responsibility towards the planet and future generations.

As customers step into Zero Hero, they will be met with a warm and inviting atmosphere that reassures them, that they are part of something bigger. The store's shelves will be lined with a carefully curated selection of eco-friendly and zero-waste products, carefully chosen to offer practical and sustainable alternatives to single-use plastic.

Zero Hero is more than just a retail space; it is a platform for change. Roberto and Alisa, have organized workshops, community events, and educational programs, inviting local organizations and experts to share their knowledge and inspire others this summer and fall. They firmly believed that by building a strong and informed community, they could create a collective impact that resonates far beyond the store's walls.

  •  FOSTERING CHANGE

At Zero Hero, every exchange is fueled by empathy, understanding, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact. Those who regularly participate in our discussion groups and volunteer in our efforts to promote environmental conservation and reduce plastic waste will not only become more informed, but also more conscientious consumers.

The impact of Zero Hero extends beyond just our customers and community members. Our efforts are inspiring a new way of thinking about consumption and waste, leading to a wave of conscious choices that are reverberating throughout the community. People who once questioned Seattle's move away from single-use plastics are now actively seeking refillable alternatives. Local businesses are also following suit, gradually joining the movement and incorporating sustainable practices into their own operations.

Through their dedication and unwavering commitment, Roberto and Alisa, the founders of Zero Hero, have forever changed the discourse on sustainability in their community. Their store is more than just a retail space; it serves as a foundation for education, community engagement, and generational hope.

Zero Hero on Capitol Hill serves as a reminder that small dreams can spark big changes. It teaches us that when we are united by a common purpose and fueled by passion, we can all become heroes in our quest to minimize single-use plastic and protect our planet for generations to come.
